Throughout the year, Girl Scouts all over our region are engaged in a wide range of community service activities - contributing to their communities as individuals, and as part of a troop. Girl Scouts are encouraged to connect with one another, and to reach out to those in need. At a council-wide level, GSRI is proud to share information about two very successful community service projects that involve all Girl Scouts. Project Undercover is GSRI's annual council service project held in collaboration with the Rhode Island Donation Exchange Program (RIDEP). Each year in April, troops throughout the council collect underwear, socks and diapers for the 40,000 children in Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts who live in poverty or encounter emergency situations. RIDEP arranges distribution through area social service agencies. Now heading into our 15th year, over two million items have been collected and distributed . 
2010 Project Undercover Events The 2010 Project Undercover Kick-Off will take place on Saturday, April 3rd at the Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI. This event will take place, thanks in part to a generous donation from Amica Insurance Company. 
Touch-a-Truck, Sunday, April 18th at Swansea location of Cardi's Furniture Superstore. The price of admission is an unopened package of socks, underwear or diapers to benefit Project Undercover. Everyone is invited to touch and get an "up close and personal" look at commercial-sized trucks and vehicles. There will be food, games and enjoyment for the whole family. Socks for Sox! Once again, enjoy a great day out at the ballpark on Sunday, April 25, 2010. Attend Providence Bruins games on March 5th or March 7th to benefit Project Undercover AND get a great gift! Girl Scout troops may elect -- at the end of the 2010 Girl Scout Cookie Sale -- to make a contribution to Operation Support Our Troops, Inc.
